Within families, there is a structure that needs to be built from the very beginning to ensure a healthy lifestyle. This structure involves the parents taking on the leadership roles and being a guide for their children. This is a necessity because as parents, it is your job to show your children right from wrong and to help them become the people you want them to be. Along with parents taking on the leadership roles, your children need to have rules or regulations. Every parent has their own philosophy of how they run their homes and how they want to parent their children, but without setting these rules or regulations early on, your children will struggle much once they get into their classrooms. Students need to know the rules in their own homes before they come to school so they can try to be enforced in the classroom. It is important to remember that school and home are different places and environments, but that doesn’t mean that there can’t be some overlapping present. Communication is the key to all relationships, no matter who they are with. In my opinion, family is the most important thing we have in this world and we need to keep it and protect it at all costs. This being said, nobody’s perfect and conflicts will arise from time to time. A lot of people view conflict as a negative and unhealthy thing between people, but that is not always the case. In fact, it is viewed as being healthy from time to time between loved ones. For me, it is not the conflict that is healthy or unhealthy, it is how we go about resolving it. Healthy families are able to communicate and talk through their conflicts to resolve them, then are able to forgive and eventually forget. These conflicts can result in dramatic changes at times, but within healthy families, they are able to adapt and change for the better from them. We must support our family members in everything they do, and not let smaller conflicts get in the way of the bigger picture. In a healthy family, support comes from every member in everything they do. This support must be carried through to their child’s academics. When students struggle, families can be a big part of helping overcome it, thus making the family stronger. If every member sticks together and supports one another, there is nothing that can break the bond of a healthy family.
